Worst Snowstorm on Record kills 7 in Tibet, Hundreds Trapped |

November 5, Dharamsala: According to the news broadcast in tibet.net, The death toll has risen to seven and at least one person still remains missing in the “worst snowstorm recorded in Tibet”,
China’s official Xinhua news agency reported on October 31. The report said seven people killed either frozen to death or were crushed by collapsing buildings. About 144,400 heads of livestock died in the storm. Nearly 1,348 people were rescued in worst-hit Lhuntse in Lhoka, Tibet – another 289 still remain trapped – after some 36 consecutive hours of snowfall from Sunday.
The rescued people have been moved to other villages, sleeping in schools or government buildings, the report said. A road linking Lhuntse to Tsona reopened on October 30 after 63 hours of snow clearing efforts of armed policemen and transportation staff, the report added.
