Prohibition of doing special prayers and incense burning over the Kuru Bridge

Taking the opportunity on 10th March gathering, Tibetan Government in Exile requested all the Tibetan people to accumulate more virtues and abandon every sin on 14th March because on behalf of all the Tibetan People in and outside Tibet, the government was going to offer a special Long-Live Prayers for the long and healthy life of H.H.The Dalai Lama and to overcome all the obstructions of the age.

On that day in Tibet, number of Tibetan people were prohibited from doing special prayers and burning incense meant for the long and healthy life of H.H.The Dalai Lama.

Mr.Thupten Samphel,Secretary of DIIR said,
“According to the information we have got, on the day when a special long live prayer was offered to H.H.The Dalai Lama in Dharamsala,  around 500 Tibetan People gathered there over the Kuru Bridge in Tibet to burn incense and to do some special prayers  for our Living Buddha’s long and healthy life, some PRC policemen came and stopped them from continuing the prayers.Even one man was arrested on the pretext of burning the incense. Actually, the officials of the Tibet Autonomous Region(TAR) announced earlier that no one is allowed to burn incense on any reason. They always claim that there is freedom of religion in Tibet but such activity like this may hinder the on-going Sino-Tibetan Dialogue.”
