Reached Lhasa by Prostration

The local people of Kham Driru District had done a wide range of  boycott movement of the wild life Skin Materials last year.

After that, in order to overcome the obstructions of H.H.The Dalai Lama, around 600 local people of Driru District came by prostrating all the way from Kham Driru to Lhasa, Central Tibet. After a long 6 months travel of prostration, they could reach Lhasa and got opportunity to pray to Jovo Shakyamuni of Lhasa Tsuglag khang.

On 5th March, 2007, there was a serious quarrel between Driru Monastery and the Gyalmo Ngulchhu Electric Power House on the issue of land.The people of Driru, Bomphen and Tharing regions revolted against the power house and  its head was declared wrong and the  four  policemen were badly beaten up by the people.

The officials informed Lhasa about the chaos in Driru District. Lhasa sent five jeeps of soldiers and kept several check posts at monastery’s road to  central district and the people were stopped going to the district zone.

Behind the monastery, the soldiers stayed vigil on the mountain top.The people were settled for a short period of time after a communication between the high ranked officers and the local heads. Despite that, there was wide network of spy everywhere and even it was announced that anyone wonder after midnight will be arrested.
